What you are about to read is the true account of something that I experienced. I am not an author and there may be spelling and grammar errors in this. I have written this exactly how it happened.
I have published this in the hope that someone may be able to shed some light on the matter....
It was around May in 2007 that I drove from Leicester to Glasgow to visit my girlfriend for the weekend. I had done this many times during the first year of seeing her. As normal, I would always book in to a Premiere Travel Inn as the standards are always high and consistent.
On this particular occasion I had booked in to the Black Bear Premiere Travel Inn located on Hamilton Road, Uddingston, Glasgow which also has a Beefeater restaurant that forms the hotels main restaurant.
It was a typical Friday afternoon in May when I arrived to check in at the reception but I had no idea what laid in wait for me and my girlfriend in the room we were given. Had I have known in advance I wouldn't have stepped foot through the door.
If you've ever wondered about ghosts and things that are 'meant' to be haunted and thought it was just a load of rubbish then there is a room at the Black Bear which WILL help you make up your mind beyond all reasonable doubt!!!
I'm not about to mention the actual room number on this blog just yet. What I want to do is wait for other people to read this who have stayed in the same room to comment on this blog and let them mention the room number.
This is to stop cranks from posting on here just for a kick and a laugh.
So here's what happened to my girlfriend and I in this room at the Black Bear Hotel in Glasgow....
When we first entered the room it just felt different. In a way that is very difficult to explain. I stood in the middle of the room and although I knew I was in that room and I could see clearly everything around me, at the same time, it felt as id I was in a giant bubble.
It was as if I was in a different time or place in time but I was still in that location and I could see the room clearly. It felt cold and open, as if if I was standing outside, like in an open field somehow.
I didn't actually think too much of it at the time because I had no reason to. I put it down to the fact that every other Premiere Travel Inn I had stayed in before, when you walk in to the room, everything is to the right. The bathroom is to the right and the bed is on the right too. If you've ever stayed in a Premiere Travel Inn then you'll know what I mean.
But in the Black Bear Travel Inn, in this room, everything was on the left hand side. Like a mirror of the other rooms we had stayed in. So I put my strange 'bubble feeling' experience to the room being the opposite way round to all of the others. Like I was a little disorientated by it.
So, we left the room and went out for a while, had dinner and then went up to our room in the evening to have a drink watch TV and cuddle up in bed as we hadn't seen each other all week.
Now nothing felt too strange or out of the ordinary apart from the electric panel heater in the room kept clicking on and off due the thermostat that maintains a steady room temperature. We'd never had one do this before so we told ourselves it was probably a 'dodgy' thermostat and we'd let reception know about it in the morning.
And with that, we both fell asleep....
Now, during this sleep I think I was having a dream. Well, I was asleep so I must have been dreaming right?!?!
That's what I thought at the time. You see, in my sleep I was aware of two men moving my pillows and I asked them to stop. I don't remember too much else about the 'dream'. In my sleep, as I could feel my pillows moving, I woke up.
In the dim light of the room, as I looked down at the part of the quilt that was between my girlfriend and I, the part right next to our necks, I saw something moving underneath the quilt.
I can only describe it like someones hands forming a ball type shape but with their fingers wiggling about. As I looked at this for a second it suddenly shot off at speed towards the foot of the bed, still beneath the quilt.
As it reached the end of the bed it just disappeared!!! Now many people would like to tell me that I had imagined this as I had just woken up and the room was dim but I could actually feel the quilt move as this thing moved down the bed.
But there was more to this. In my 'dream' the two men who had been moving my pillows had made me very angry because I wanted them to stop but they didn't and I felt that they had bad intentions.
So as I woke up to see this 'thing' moving off under the quilt I became uncontrollably angry. Anger that I had never felt before. This anger caused me to shout out at the top of my voice some very bad words.
Now bear in mind that the time is somewhere around 3 O'clock in the morning, unless you're very angry, there's probably not much chance of you shouting at the top of your voice obscene words. But that's exactly what I did. I was SO very angry at this 'thing' that I shouted so loud it woke the people up in the next room.
I couldn't see what I was shouting at yet I knew where in the room it was. I found myself shaking with anger, with pure rage, at a part of the wall next to my bed. I know I couldn't see anything or anyone but I knew something was there, something nasty and it was laughing at me as if to taunt me.
I know it was a man, I know he wasn't a nice man but I couldn't see him or tell you what he looked like. It was surreal. I had never felt anger such as that in all my life.
My girlfriend calmed me down and for some strange reason I calmed down with my girlfriend telling me it was probably just a bad dream and I went back to sleep. In the morning we talked about what had happened and put it down to some kind of nightmare and we never mentioned it again that day.
Later that night we both went to bed as normal but this time it was my girlfriend who was awoken by me having a conversation with someone. As my girlfriend told me the next day, she woke up because she could hear me begging someone not to throw me across the room. Apparently I was pleading with someone and my arm was up in the air with my wrist limp and my hand just hanging, as if someone was holding my arm up by the wrist.
My girlfriend nudged me and called my name and apparently my arm fell back down and I stopped talking but I never woke up and I have no recollection of this hapening.
When we woke in the morning, with what had happened the past two nights I decided I would ask reception to move us to a different room, although we we none too sure exactly how to explain the reasons for wanting to move.
As you can imagine, claiming your room is haunted isn't an everyday thing but what else could we do? So I approached the receptionist who was with the restaurant manager and just told them everything that you have just read.
As you can imagine, there was a little laugh and a snide comment from the restaurant manager who said, "Well it's not like we can get maintenance to pop in a fix it". "It's not like it's a leaking tap".
The receptionist was a little more understanding, although bemused, she said she'd go and check with housekeeping to see which room was ready right away for us to move to.
Ten minutes later the receptionist returned with a different expression on her face. She had approached one of the house keeping staff and and said that two guests wanted to move to another room because they thought their current room was haunted. To this, the house keeping replied to the receptionist, "It is room ##"? (## being our room number). When the receptionist said yes and asked the housekeeping staff how she knew which room it was. The house keeping staff confirmed that the room was indeed haunted by a presence which many house keeping staff had experienced before.
The house keeping staff continued to explain that other staff of the housekeeping team had left because of that room while others just flatly refused to go in to it. There are only a couple of staff who clean that room and one particular member of house keeping would make the bed and then turn round to tidy up the desks that are in the room, only then to turn round and see a slight dip in the bed as if someone was sitting on it.
This was enough for the receptionist to apologies to us for what had happened in the room over the weekend and promptly booked us in to another room on the other side of the hotel.
I'm pleased to say that they next night passed without any incident but I have never stayed in Black Bear Premiere Travel Inn since and wouldn't stay there for any amount of money.
What I am interested to know is if anyone else has ever stayed there and had any similar experiences like this one. I'm not going to mention the room number in this blog yet. If you have stayed in that room you will know the number.
I would love to hear about what happened to you that night. If you have stayed there then please let me know by posting your comments below or if you know of the history of the hotel, such as the land it was built on or anything like that then please do let me know.
It would be interesting to know what is haunting that room and maybe find out why.
